My story…

I had just turned 21 years old. I was finally able to get out and experience the “adult life”. I was working at Farmers Insurance in their contact center taking calls for people with claims regarding their homes or vehicles and it was extremely stressful. January hit and I got sick but once I got “better” I all of sudden was getting hives and I had never had them before. I had hives everyday for 3 months straight. The doctor that I saw in the beginning of my journey just thought it was an allergic reaction… Sent me to an allergist and all they did was pump me full of meds to try and help the hives and itching but no matter what I still had them everyday. Around the 3 month mark of having hives I woke up one day to having extreme joint pain and I knew then something wasn’t right at all. I went back into the doctor and demanded they do some bloodwork and sure enough I was diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder which soon came to be found out as Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. I cried and was mad for a long time. After about a year and a half of living with just MCTD I started having problems with my stomach and getting sick after eating, after symptoms continued to get worse and I have lost upwards of almost 60 pounds. I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach) due to the MCTD messing it up. My family was no support and still isn’t. I met a friend on one of the support pages and she’s grown to be my best friend and we still haven’t met in person. My husband is the one that has been there for me through everything, he was with me a couple months before I got sick and has never left. ?
