Unlocking Autoimmunity is 501 3c non-profit organization that was inspired by my personal experience and learning that there are millions of people who are suffering in silence with little help within the medical community. These diseases are severely under-recognized yet highly prevalent and many life-threatening . Through my own personal research I have set this non-profit up to fund those labs chosen that are committed, dedicated, passionate, compassionate and making major strides and breakthroughs all for the benefit of others. Selflessly working tirelessly to end autoimmunity.  The links and donations go directly to Stanford Medicine (Dr. PJ UTZ, Dr. Judith Shizuru and Dr. Irv Weissman), Johns Hopkins Medicine: Autoimmune Disease Research Center (Dr. Patrizio Caturegli) , University of Florida- Gainesville (Dr. Laurence Morel and Dr. Todd Brusko’s Labs) and Lamb Foundation for Dysautonomia Research (Meredith Lamb) for their brilliant and cutting edge ongoing research for all autoimmune diseases.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

After many trial and errors in attempting to launch this movement, which is how it works, right? I have found another passion of mine within this passion. Art. The creativity, emotion and expression that flows so freely when creating art, of any kind. The murals below were gifted to this movement by Tasha Wahl, founder and CEO of Butterfly Movement, Be The Change You Wish To See In The World (www.butterflyeffectbethechange.com) Every time someone takes a picture  with the mural hashtags with the hashtags next to the mural, the Wahl Foundation donates to the researchers selected.

In painting these murals, both located in Austin, Texas, I discovered just how cathartic it was for me. How it was a medium for expression other than writing that I had never experienced before. It allowed me to be who I am and express who I am, and be at peace with that. It painting these I met and continue to meet some of the most amazing, caring and compassionate people, mostly artists, that I may have ever met. In learning about the art community, all forms, I am intrigued. A new fire is lit. And a new appreciation for another under-recognized community, the art community. It is my hope to put on quarterly art shows and silent auctions to raise donations for our dedicated researchers. In addition, exploring other avenues to raise donations in creative ways.
